Etymological origin of Italian surname: Centamore

CENTAMORE | CENTAMORI

Centamore is specific to Sicily, to Lentini, Carlentini, Augusta and Syracuse in the Syracuse area, to Catania, Scordia, Acireale and Valverde in the Catania area, and to Troina and Regalbuto in the Enna area, Centamori, extremely rare and typical of Perugia, should both derive from the Late medieval name Centamore attributed to a son so loved as to need the term hundred before the name Love to indicate it to the superlative, we find in 1800 in Trevi (PG) the physician Settimio Centamori Cameriere di Cappa and Spada del Papa and husband of Carlotta Bonaparte.
