Etymological origin of Italian surname: Cerullo

Cerulli, quite rare, would seem to have more distinct stocks, in Monte Argentario (GR), in Rome and in Naples, Cerullo, very widespread throughout Campania and in the Potenza area, has a stock in the Catanzaro area of Montauro and Squillace, and one in Salento a Maglie, should all derive from the Roman praenomen Cerullus of which we have an example in an ancient Roman tombstone: "Laribus Augustis mag (istri) reg (ionis) III - vici Corniclar (i) -ann (o) LXI aediculam vetustate - vexatam et tectum eius - its impeccable refecerunt - et marmorarunt - C (aius) Iulius Macareus - M (arcus) Graecinius Cerullus - N (umerius) Graecinius Philetus - M (arcus) Gavius Speratus - L (ucio) Iunio Gallione - T (ito ) Cutio Cilto co (n) s (ulibus) ", we find traces of this surname in the Avellino area of Montoro in an act of pardon in 1340 granted by Roberto d'Angiò.
