Cherubin, typically Venetian, from Vicenza and Padua in particular, is a dialectal form of Cherubini, which has two areas of great diffusion, in Lombardy between Brescia and Verona and in central Italy, between Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio, Cherubino has a stock in Fondi (LT), a Calabrese in Siderno (RC) and in Guardavalle (CZ) and a small presence in Lecce, derive from the medieval name Cherubinus of which traces are found, for example, in the 1400s with the saint Cherubinus de Spoleto, another saint with this name was Cherubino Testa (1451-1479) of Avigliana (TO), in Siena in 1500 we find the surname of the name with such a Cherubinus domini Cesaris, towards the end of 1500 among the Umbrian jurisconsults figure Laerzio Cherubini of Norcia. Worthy of mention is Francesco Cherubini, the author of the Milanese-Italian vocabulary, written in the early 1800s.
