CHITI | CHITO

Chiti is typically Tuscan, particularly in the area that includes the provinces of Pistoia, Prato and Florence, Chito would seem to be specific to Matera, they should derive from the medieval name Chito of which we have an example in the State Archive of Milan in an act of 1491: " ... Bernardus filius quondam Antonius Barufi Iohannes filius quondam Albertoli Bossi Chito de la Cassina Magni ... ".
