CHIZZOLIN | CHIZZOLINI

Chizzolin, practically unique, is Venetian, Chizzolini is typical of Mantua, of Castel Goffredo in particular, with presences also in the nearby Brescia and Verona areas, they should derive from nicknames originating from the Italianization of the Lombard archaic term chissolì or chissolin which means snail, but which in Mantua, Verona and Brescia, it assumed the meaning of focaccia or schiacciatina made of dough without yeast, perhaps identifying a baker in the progenitor.
