Cicardi is specific to the Milanese, Milan and Triuggio in the Milanese area and Erba in the Como area. Cicardo is decidedly Sicilian, with branches in Vittoria in Ragusa, Caltanissetta and Gangi and Palermo in the Palermo area, and Ciccardi, very rare, seems to have more than the Salento core in Galatina in the Lecce area in particular, also a strain, perhaps not secondary, in the Milanese, Ciccardini is present today in the Como and Marche regions, they should derive from the German medieval name Sieghard, which later became Siccardo and from there Ciccardo, name chederiva from the union of medieval German terms sieg (victory) and hard (hard, brave), according to another hypothesis the southern stocks could instead derive from the French medieval name Chicard. (see Siccardi)
