Cicculli, almost unique, has presences in the Potentino, Ciccullo has a stock in Avellino and in Salerno and Cava de 'Tirreni in the Salerno area, presences in the Potentino and in the Syracuse area, should derive from hypocoristic dialectal forms of the name Ciccu, a contracted aferetic form of the name Francesco, according to another hypothesis they would derive instead from a hypocoristic dialectal form of the Greek word circos (circle, dome).
