CILIBERTI | CILIBERTO

Ciliberti is typical of southern peninsular Italy, of the Neapolitan, Salerno, Potentino, Cosenza, Foggia and Bari regions, in particular, Ciliberto has a stock in the Neapolitan, one in Calabria, in particular between Valentina, Catanzaro and Crotone, and one in Sicily, in particular in the Messina area and especially in the Agrigento area, they derive from a dialectal modification of the medieval name Gilibertus (see Giliberti), we find traces of these surnames in the Valentina from at least the 1700s with a certain Antonio Ciliberti, quondam Domenico belonging to the local parliament.
