COLOTTI | COLOTTO

Colotti has a stock in the area that includes Bergamo, Brescia and Trentino, and one in the Foggia area. Colotto is sporadically present in eastern Veneto, but the main stock is in Lerici in La Spezia, which should derive from Colottus a hypocoristic form of the 'apheresis of the name Nicola, of whose use we have an example in an ancient inscription present in the Church of San Francesco in Lerici, where it can be read: "Colottus, Muzius and Jacopellus erunt".
