Conter has a stock in Brescia and Rovato (BS) and one in Livo (TN), Conteri is absolutely rare, Conterio, equally rare, seems to be from the Verbanese Varese area, Contieri, very very rare, has stocks especially in Campania, Contiero has a stock in the Milanese and one in Veneto, especially in the Paduan and Rovigoto areas, Gontero is specific to Turin, Cumiana, Bussoleno and Piossasco, all of which should derive from variations of the Germanic medieval name Gunter which became Latinized as Gontierus, Gonterus or Conterus, of use of these names we have an example in a paper of the year 1145: "... Sed nec Gonterus prepositus nec Teodericus, successor eius, patrui sui filius, licet ecclesie suo ferventissimi amatores extiterint et in secularibus satis potentes fuerint, hoc honore digni non fuerunt , ut for eos tantum opus consumaretur.
