Etymological origin of Italian surname: Corallo

CORALLO

Corallo has an Apulian stock in Bari, Lecce and Taranto in particular and a Sicilian stock in Paternò, Gela and Palermo, but the main core is in Ragusa in Ragusa, Comiso, Vittoria, Modica and Ispica, they should derive from nicknames derived from the craft of progenitor, somehow connected with the coral, or for fishing or for processing, or they could also derive directly from the name Corallo carried by the progenitor, a name of which we have an example in this act of 1614: "... for the price of shields 1626 coin including the laudemio et altro, as for instromento rogato for the deeds of the notary Corallo of Campidoglio ... ".
