Cosimi is typical of the Tuscan coastal area and of Lazio, of Rome in particular, Cosimini, very rare, seems specific of the province of Lucca, Cosimo has a stock in Naples and in Naples and one in Crotone in Rocca di Neto and Belvedere in Spinello above all, they derive from the medieval name Cosimus of which we have an example in this act of 1418 in Florence: "... pro quo et suis precibus et mandatis fideiussit Cosimus Iohannis Biccii de Medicis campsor de Florentia ..."; an important and illustrious example was Cosimo De 'Medici (1389-1464) grandfather of Lorenzo the Magnificent.
