COTELLA | COTELLI | COTELLO

Cotella is typical of Genoa and Campomorone (GE), with strains, probably secondary, also in Turin, Cotelli is specific to the Brescia area, Gardone Val Trompia, Brescia, Bagnolo Mella, Sarezzo and Corzano, Cotello, almost unique and probably due to a error of transcription of the previous one, could derive from a nickname originated from a hypocoristic of the term cote (stone used to sharpen blades) perhaps due to a characteristic way of sharpening the scythe, probably denoting a peasant origin.
