CUZZOCREA

Typical of the Reggio area, it should derive from a nickname of Greek origin cuzzocrea (cut off meat), from the Greek koutsos (cut) and krea (meat), perhaps in memory of an episode of war or disaster during fishing, but also, and it cannot be absolutely ruled out, deriving from a nickname that identifies the forefather as a circumcised Jew.
