Etymological origin of Italian surname: Eliseo

ELISEO

A strain in the province of Naples and Caserta, one in the province of Rome, and perhaps one in the province of Trapani, derives from the Greek name Elyseos (paradise). additions provided by Aldo Piglia Milan In general, the adoption of names linked to Christian worship represent a significant part, while those of direct pagan derivation are few (Diana, probably the most common, then Mercury, Minerva, etc.). Therefore I believe that the use of the personal Eliseo refers, more than to the Elysian Fields, to the name of the 2nd prophet of Israel, successor of Elia.
