Etymological origin of Italian surname: Ersettigh

ERSETTI | ERSETTIGH

Both Friulians, Ersetti has now almost disappeared, Ersettigh is only slightly less rare, they could derive from a nickname or name originated from an adjective based on the German verb ersetzen (replace, replace), with a meaning similar to the Italian name Recupero (see RECUPERI) , or blackmail (see RICATTI), probably a name attributed to the progenitors by parents who had previously lost a child.
