Espositi is decidedly Roman, Esposito is extremely widespread throughout Italy and in Campania in particular, Esposti is a native of the area between Milan and Lodi, Esposto has a Roman stock, one from the Marche in Ancona, Fano, Pesaro and Tavullia, one from Sicily and an important nucleus in Foggia in Foggia, Manfredonia and Monte SantʻAngelo, all derive from the name Expositus given to abandoned children, normally exposed in front of places of charity, such as churchyards or monasteries.
