Etymological origin of Italian surname: Fanetti

It has a stock in Valtellina and Brescia and one in Tuscany between Florentine, Arezzo and Siena, should derive from the apheresis of a diminutive of the name Stefano, of this use we find an example in Baldus (1517) by Teofilo Folengo: ".. .Ille est Fanettus, tibi filius et mihi frater ... ". Traces of this surname can be found in Valtellina as early as the 1500s.
