FANTECCHI | FANTECHI

Fantecchi, almost unique, is due to errors of transcription by Fantechi, which is a typical surname of Florence and the Florentine, of Pontassieve, Bagno a Ripoli, Pelago, Sesto Fiorentino and Scandicci, it should be a Tuscan hypocoristic form of the medieval name Fante, derived in turn from the Latin term infans, infantis (boy) or from the apheresis of names like Bonfante (see also FANT).
