FERRETI | FERRETO | FERRETTI | FERRETTO

Ferreto and Ferreti should be errors of transcription of the other two surnames, Ferretti is widespread throughout the central north with a stock also in Puglia, Ferretto is specific to the Veneto, in particular to Padua, with a stock also in the Genoese, deriving from the medieval name Ferretus of which there is an example in the Diplomatic Code of medieval Lombardy in a text of 1131: "... Petrus Basca et Ferretus de Puteo, pro terra Azonis Basca IIII. staria sigalis et starium ...".
