FILISETTI

Filisetti is characteristic of the Bergamo area, of Ardesio, Sovere, Clusaone, Bossico, Nembro and Fino del Monte, about the etymological origin we can formulate more hypotheses: it could derive from a nickname originated from the dialectal word filesel (the woolen yarn obtained from the first processing of flakes), in this case it could be assumed that the nickname was to indicate the profession of the progenitor, spinning which, for example, was very common among the farming families of the Ardesio area, or it could derive from a nickname originated from the dialectal term filis (fern), fern leaves were used in ancient times in the mountain areas of Bergamo to prepare the cows' litter, and it could then be hypothesized that the progenitor was a worker working on cattle or raising cows, a last hypothesis proposes a derivation from a dialectal hypocoristic form derived from the name Felice.
