Conca-irde or conca-irdi (green head) is the male of the wild duck, also called su pibidòni. In the ancient papers of the language and history of Sardinia we find Virde or Virdi or Virdis (see Virde). The surname Irde is present in 26 Italian Municipalities, of which 13 in Sardinia (mostly central): Cuglieri 15, Bonorva 13, Bosa 11, Cagliari 10, etc.
