Iunca is unique, Iunco is specific of Salento, of Manduria in the Taranto area, of Oria, Erchie and Brindisi in the Brindisi area, it should derive from a nickname based on the Apulian dialectal term iuncu (giunco), in turn derived from the Latin word iuncus with the same meaning, probably to indicate that the progenitor worked the rush to make baskets or other similar objects.
