The Caita, almost unique, should be a variant of the more cune Lacaita, which is typically Apulian tarantino, in particular of Torricella, with presences also in Lizzano and Manduria and in Brindisi, and which should be of Albanian origin and derive from a nickname grecanico with the meaning of reliable, sincere.
