Laffranchi is typically from Brescia, Laffranchini is also specific of the Brescia area, Esine, Pian Camuno and Edolo, Lafranchi, practically unique, it would also seem to be from Brescia, Lafranconi is specific to Mandello del Lario, with a small stock also in Abbadia Lariana, always in the Lecco area, should derive, directly or through hypochoristic or augmentative forms, from the medieval Germanic name Lanfrancus (see LANFRANCHI), traces of these surnames of which we find them in Brescia in 1500 with Battista Laffranchi of Lovere, fabro a violinis, in the countryside of Bormio in the Quaterni inquisitionum in 1600: "... in stuffa domus habitationis mei Sermondi cancellarii sedentibus, denouncing comparuerunt videlicet: Laurentius quondam Ioannis Laffranchi and Andreas quondam magistri Nicolini Morselli de Semogo Communis Burmii ...".
