Lambardi is typical Tuscan, from the area that includes the Livorno, the Grosseto and the Sienese, Lambardo is practically unique and is probably due to a transcription error of the previous one, deriving from the medieval name Lambardus derived from langobardus, used then to indicate a state of nobility, Ludovico Muratori writes: "... Farulfo et Teudegrimo germanis quondam Farolfi, de quibus descendunt Lambardi quidam de Sancto Miniate, scilicet Cavalca Lambardus et filii ...".
