Lanzo has a stock in the Taranto area, one in the Catanzaro area and one between the Milan area and Varese, one in the Turin area and one in the Imperia area. Lanzon is very rare, Lanzone has a large Apulian nucleus, and in the province of Campobasso, a lineage in the Cosenza area, one in the Roman, one of Turin and Cuneo, one in the Genoese and one in the Milanese, Lanzoni is widespread in the Lombardy region, in the Emilia region, but with stocks all over the north, some may derive from the name of toponyms like Lanzo di Martina Franca (TA) , Lanzo d'Intelvi in the Como area, or Lanzo Torinese (TO), but the most probable origin is a derivation from the medieval name Lanzo, Lanzonis of which we have an example in a Cartula commutationis of the year 1039 in Bergamo: "... Quidem ad vicem recepit ipse domnus Ambrosius episcopus a partem eiusdem on episcopatii Lanzo his commutator, similiter in cause comutacionis nomine, present die iuris predicti sui episcopatii abendum, meliorata rex sicut abet, ...
