LARCINESE | LARCINESI

Larcinese, very rare, it is typical of the Chieti area, of Gessopalena (CH) in particular, Larcinesi, almost unique, is probably due to errors of transcription of the previous one, it could have an origin linked to localities characterized by the presence of larch, for assonance with the mushroom that in the dialect of central Italy is called lercino (the so-called porcino of larici). Traces of this surname have been found in Gessopalena since the early 1500s. Additions provided by Matthew Francesco Larcinese A notarial document from 1580 written in Chieti places a Bernadino de Larcenese in the town of Gessopalena around 1520 as landowners including a hill in the Arcinni (or Arcioni, Arcione, Arcini) the surname Larcinese thus derives from the name of this hill and was born as the Arcinese.
