LIBERA | LIBERI | LIBERO

Free would seem typical of the area between the provinces of Sondrio and Trento, Liberi seems to have two nucleuses one in the lower Trentino and one between Pescara and Chieti, Libero has an important nucleus in the Paduan area, but there may also exist some strains in southern Italy . They should all descend from the Latin cognomen Liberalis. Giacomo Ganza of Villa Di Tirano (SO) adds: The surname Libéra is typical of the area between Sondrio and Morbegno in the average Valtellina.
