Leccadita is practically unique, as well as Leucadito and Liccadito, Leccadito, absolutely rare, it is of the Cosentino, of Lungro and Spezzano Albanese in particular, hypotheses provided by Stefano Ferrazzi 'origin arbëreshë (most probably Greek-Albanian), the surnames Leccadito, Leucadito, etc seem to derive from the term lefkaditis, which, in modern Greek, has the meaning of leucadita, an inhabitant of the Lefkada (one of the Ionian Islands, in the west of Greece): the island of Lefkada, in fact, is known by several names, among which Leukas, Lefkas and Lefkada, in which the sound of the diphthong -eu- is altered in a modern -ef- (it is a very common phenomenon in the Greek language).
