LIPPOLI | LIPPOLIS

Lippoli, absolutely rare, is probably due to transcription errors of Lippolis, which is widespread in Puglia, especially in the Bari area in particular in Putignano and Noci, in the Taranto and Brindisi areas, with a stock also in Naples and Portici, should derive from a hypocoristic form of an apheretic form of the name Philippus (? Lippus? Lippolus), traces of these surnames can be found for example in Putignano (BA) in 1700 in a will of a certain Pietro Lippolis.
