LO | LO PREIATO | LO PREJATO | LOPREATO | LOPREIATO | PREATO

The Preato and Lopreato are practically almost unique, Lo Preiato has some presence in the Savona area and in the Caserta area, but the most consistent stock is in the Vibonese area, as is Lopreiato which has a stock at Sant'Onofrio and San Gregorio d'Ippona in the Vibonese, Lo Prejato, extremely rare, it would seem to have presences in the Caserta and Neapolitan and in the Savona areas, the etymological origin could be from a dialectal alteration of the prelate term (of the clergy) and according to this hypothesis the progenitors would have belonged to the orthodox clergy, a second hypothesis proposes a derivation from nicknames originating from the Calabrian dialectal term prejatu (valuable), perhaps to indicate in the progenitors of the wealthy.
