LODOLA | LODOLI | LODOLO

Lodola has a stock in the Pavia area, one in the La Spezia area and one in the Ravenna area. Lodoli is rare with a stock in the Roman area, one in Romagna and one in the Veneto region. Lodolo is of Friulian origin, typical of Udine and Udine, should derive from the name medieval Lodolus, Lodola of which we have an example in a Brief confessionis of the year 1190 in Valenza (PV): "... ", could also derive from nicknames originated from the medieval term lodola (lark) of the use of this term we can read in an ancient text Historiae animalium liber III qui est de Avium natura of 1555: "... et creditur them avis illa quae Venetis lodola (id est alauda, alias capelluta, id est alauda cristata) appellatur ...", it is also possible a derivation from place names.
