Etymological origin of Italian surname: Lopardo

Typical of Brienza in the Potenza area and of the nearby Sala Consilina in the Salerno area, it should derive from the late Latin name Lopardus of which we have an example in a Charta Donationis of 752 written in Valdottavo (LU): "... nec non et Lopardo presbyter iuidem serbientem, hoc est casa ubi dwell uisa sum ... ".
