LA | LAMARCA | MARCA

The Marca is widespread in the Neapolitan, in the Foggia and in Sicily, in particular in the Palermo, Agrigento, Nisseno and Catanese, but with good presences in all the south and in Rome, Lamarca, more rare, has a small stock in the Neapolitan and one , more consistent, in the Bari area of Corato, Gravina in Puglia and Barletta, should derive from the medieval Lombard term marka (land, border area), perhaps indicating that the progenitors lived in the border areas of a fief, or even simply that they did the factors of noble houses.
