MORESE | MORESI | MORRESE | MORRESI | MORRISI

Morese is specific to Corato and Andria in Bari and Foggia, Moresi has a stock in Rome, Ancona and Florence, Morrese is extremely rare, Morresi would seem typical of the Marche, Macerata and the province especially of Civitanova Marche and Corridonia, Morrisi is practically unique, they should all derive from the Latin name Mauritius through modifications such as Morexius or Morixius, in 1249 of which we have an example in the will of such a Homobonus Morixius in Cremona, in some cases it could also derive from the toponym Morra Irpino (see MORRA ), we find traces of these surnames in 1494 when Alfonso II of Aragon, conferred the noble title to Yohannìs Baptistae Morese of Montecorvino Pugliano (SA), in 1572 in Perugia, where in the list of the scholars of that University of year is the Marchesi Fulvius Moresius, an act of 1571 is "Instruction of the heredity and inventory of the assets of Vincenzo de Francischino Moresi of Ancona".
