Papara, almost unique, is from the Cosenza area, Papari has a stock in San Marzano di San Giuseppe in the Taranto area, Paparo has a stock in the Neapolitan dialect, in Naples, San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, Volla, Massa di Somma, Cercola, Pollena Trocchia, Ercolano and Sant'Anastasia, one in Badolato, Catanzaro and Satriano in the Catanzaro area and in Scandale and Crotone in the Crotone area, and one in Sicily in the Catania area, in Paternò, Bronte, Catania and Randazzo, seem to have Neapolitan origins and should derive from a dialectal alteration of the name Ancient Greek Papirios, or from a Greek form of the Greek name Papeos.
