Pasi has at least two nuclei, an important one between Ravenna and Forlì and one in the Verona area, Pasin is typically Venetian, especially from Vicenza and Treviso, Pasinetti is decidedly Lombard, from Bergamo and Brescia, Pasini is very common in the Varese belt in Pesaro, along the via Emilia, Pasino seems to be specific to Alexandria and Alexandria, they should all derive, directly or through simple or complex hypocoristic forms or by contraction, from a dialectal modification of the medieval name Pacinus of which we have an example in this paper of 1451 in Lodi: "... Cum alias spectabiles et egregii dominus Nicolaus de Arcimboldis, nunc consiliarius noster, and dominus Pacinus de Perusio ac Iacobinus de Bosis, commisarii and nominators n. Ill.mi quondam et ex.mi domini domini ducis, soceri et patris nostri, et nunquam delende memories, domains Filippi Marie ducis Mediolani ... ". We find traces of the surname Pasini in 1500 in Cerete (BG) in a letter of 1543 where it reads: "... Tonolus q.Pasini Bertolotti de Succiis consul decti comunis ...". (see Pacini) additions provided by Angelo Pasino renaming of the augural and gratulatory name Pace and Latin Pacinus; present in the Brescia, Ferrara and Alessandria areas. Documented since 1200 (Pasino de Gotis de Boselli), a Mastro Pasino is mentioned in the Satire Ia of Ariosto: "... If separately I cook / wants master Pasino once or twice, / four and six will make me the face from l 'arms .... ".
