PATERNOSTER | PATERNOSTRI | PATERNOSTRO

Paternoster has a Trentino and a Lucanian lineage, Paternostri, practically unique, it is probably due to a transcription error of Paternostro which has an important core of Palermo, and one in the high Cosenza area, Castrovillari and Cassano allo Ionio, derive from the medieval name Paternoster inspired by religious piety of which we have an example in Cividale (UD) in 1291 with a certain Lupoldo called "Paternoster", an inhabitant of Cividale, who appears in an investiture concerning city goods.
