Etymological origin of Italian surname: Paxia

PAXIA

Paxia is typically Sicilian, in the area between Palermo and Agrigento, it should be a matronymic form of the medieval female name Paxia (ancient version of the name Pacifica), we find traces of this name in Savona in an act of the second half of 1100: " ... Et ei Paxia dedit ad viro m (e) or Ioh (ann) es ... ".
