Peracini and Perracini, almost unique, are from Vercelli, Peracino, very very rare, decidedly Piedmontese, from Turin and Biella, and the Perracino variant is derived from the previous one due to transcription errors, all of which derive from the medieval name Peracinus, a variant hypocoristic of the name Petrus, an example of the use of this name we have with the noble from Ferrara mentioned in the Historia almi FerrariƦ: "Peracinus Visdomini Ferrariensis, nobles, ac perantiquo genres, Philosophiae, ac Medicinae studiis, quibus admodum claruit, decus addidit. E vivis discesisse abbo 1612, ac in Templo D. Francisci fuisse tumulatum ... ", a prominent figure with this surname was the painter Laurentius Peracinus born in Valsesia in 1710.
