Renoldi is typically Lombard, Milanese and Varese mainly and the area of Bergamo Bresciana, Rinoldi, very rare, perhaps of Origin cremonesi or Mantovane, derive from the medieval name Italo Germanic renoldus of which we find traces in the diplomatic code Bresciano in Brescia in an act of 1116: "... Quae Pecia de terra Iacet in Suprascriptae Civitatis territory, on site Ubi dicitur Mezane; Coheret ei: A mane est flumen et suprascripti Oddonis, at Meridie Renoldi, in the evening via ET in part Milonis et Muscardi... ", and also in a script of 1148:"... Eodem year et Eadem, August Expeditione, the Esset estus intolerabilis, nebula et pestilens aura, multi de primoribus regni Obierunt, Inter quos Renoldus, Coloniensis Archiepiscopus, Daniel, Pragensis Episcopus, ibid mortui sunt,... ".
