Scani, virtually unique is most likely due to a transcription error of Scanio, which is specific to Naro in the Agrigentino and of Roccapalumba in the Palermo, it should be treated of an apheretic form of the Latin name Ascanius (see ASCANI), but it is also Possible that it is a nickname originated from the Medieval Latin word scamnium (stool).
