Etymological origin of Italian surname: Schiatti

SCHIATTI

Schiatti seems to have two strains, one in Milanese and one in the Reggiano, should derive from Schiattus a medieval hypochoristic form of the apheresis of the name Francis, of this name we have an example in an act of 1393 in Perugia where a certain Schiattus Francisci (which It would be for Franceschetto son of Francesco) is among the witnesses: "... Schiattus Francisci, Ser Nicolaus Busonis, magister Simon Mancie... ".
