Etymological origin of Italian surname: Schinina'

SCHININA'

Schininà, decidedly Sicilian, typical of Ragusa, could derive from a nickname originated from the Greek word skoinàs (Cordaio), the probable profession of the founder, or, although less likely, the Greek term Schinos (Lentischio), perhaps to indicate A dense presence at the home of the family, but you can not exclude also a possible connection with the Greek name Skinos of the prefecture of Corinth.
