Schiraldi has a stump in Trieste, one in Naples, but the most consistent strain is in Bitonto in the Barese, with good presences in the rest of the Bari, in Barese, Palo del Colle, Altamura, Gravina in Puglia, Noicattaro, Binetto and Toritto, should derive from the medieval Lombard name Schiraldus, in turn derived from the Germanic name Skirwald, composed of the Union of the terms Skira (Enterprise) and Waldan (government), with the direction of the one who commands above all.
