Scevoli, almost unique, is specific to the Catanese, slides is typically Sicilian, Aidone and Piazza Armerina in the Ennese, and Mirabella Imbaccari in Catania, could result from alterations of the Latin cognomen Scaevola, of which the most famous bearer was the Tribuno Romano Muzio Scaevola.
