STALTARI | STALTERI | STARTARI | STARTERI

Staltari is specific to Reggio Calabria, Locri, Canolo, Siderno, Gerace, Marina di Gioiosa Ionica and Cittanova, Stalteri has a strain in Siderno in the Reggio Calabria and one in Marsala in Trapani, Startari is specific to Taurianova in Reggio Calabria, Starteri, now disappeared in Italy, It would seem originating from the area of Siderno always in the Reggino, all these surnames should derive from a nickname based on the term Grecanico stactiàres (white of hair), perhaps a premature feature of the ancestor, or from the ancient Greek word Stateros (weight measurements equivalent to half Dradras used in ancient Greece and also in Italian areas of Magna Grecia).
