Tepoli is almost unique what like Tiepoli, are probably due to errors of transcription of Tiepolo that is instead typically Venetian, Venice, Caorle, Scorzè and Noale, with a strain also in Trieste and Muggia (TS), should derive from nicknames related to Archaic word tepolus or tiepolus (slightly warm, just Luke warm), originated perhaps by behavioral characteristics of the ancestor, traces of these cognominizations we find with Jacopo Tiepolo called Scopulo who was the forty-third Doge of Venetian Republic from March 1229 to May 1249; Famous character was the painter Giambattista Tiepolo (1696-1770). Additions provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Tiepolo is surname Veneto with the ancient name Teupolus sec. XI-XII, certainly reflection of Teupo, Teutpert, through * Teppo. Olivieri 166.
