TESTORI | TESTORIO

Testori is typical of western Lombardy, Testorio is absolutely rare, they should derive from the Latin praenomen of Greek origins Testorius, of which we have an example in the Genealogie Deorum gentilium secundum Johannem Boccaccium de Certaldo: "... Yphates et Testorius, UT dicit Paulus, filii fuerunt Priami,... ", but it is also possible to derive from a nickname originated from the craft of Testore (Weaver), quoted for example in a testament of 1611:"... He invested in the office over abundance and they spent the fruits in many capacities of shields twenty-five, to maritate maidens Testore or daughters of Testori, as long as honest, of good fame... ".
